I live in a "soda" state, although I lived in a "pop" state for a few years of my youth. It was during those years that I recall accompanying the family to the local The Pop Shoppe to return empty glass bottles, and replenish the family stores.
I wonder if The Pop Shoppe influenced the use of that term, or if they were more successful in their southern spread from Canada due to a predisposition among the denizens for that particular moniker?
