I live in a "soda" state, although I lived in a "pop" state for a few years of my youth. It was during those years that I recall accompanying the family to the local The Pop Shoppe to return empty glass bottles, and replenish the family stores.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if The Pop Shoppe influenced the use of that term, or if they were more successful in their southern spread from Canada due to a predisposition among the denizens for that particular moniker?
We call it ginger - no idea why - maybe because Irn Bru is ginger coloured
